Past midnight, I felt an eerie silence dissolving my doubts
Like a clear echo in the chamber of mysteries
Picking up scattered pieces I had left before
The Doors creaked open as my soul escaped
Next morning, in the green motel, a calm was restored
Like all the waves in a fierce river collapsed
My mind cleared way for forgotten perceptions
Marching forward on this soft parade
I let my cheek slide down to touch the warm comfort of earth
As lizards crawl out welcoming the hot Indian summer
Forgetting the constant shackles that bounded me
I am awake.
